Jonathan Charles 12 Seater Mahogany Extending Dining Table is built after a design of circa 1820, and every detail on it earns that reference — from the twin reeded pedestal baluster bases to the cast brass lions paw feet gripping the floor with the kind of authority that stops a room in its tracks. The top is veneered in fine crotch mahogany, its dramatically figured grain fanning outward in bold, mirrored sweeps across the full length of the table, crossbanded at the edge in a lighter border that frames the whole surface. Part of the Buckingham collection and finished in medium antique mahogany, this Regency Style Extending Dining Table carries a colour and character that only genuine mahogany veneer can produce. Unextended at 223.4cm (88in), the table seats 8 with room to spare around its twin pedestal base; one 55.9cm (22in) drop-in leaf extends it to 279.3cm (110in) for 10, and with both leaves in place this Large Extending Mahogany Dining Table reaches a commanding 335.2cm (132in), seating 12 in style. Both extension leaves drop flush into the existing surface, so the crotch mahogany veneer reads as one unbroken sweep of grain from end to end rather than a patchwork of mismatched sections. At 122cm deep, every guest along both sides of this 12 seater dining table has genuine elbow room, with no legs cutting into the space beneath. A Mahogany Table like this doesn't just host a dinner party — it becomes the reason people remember the evening.

Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture
Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture is the vision of Jonathan Sowter, an English furniture designer who excels at the art of fine antique reproduction. They design and manufacture the highest-quality European antique replicas as well as their own unique transitional designs, which are distributed to the best shops and interior designers throughout North America, U.K., Spain, Italy, Russia and France, just to name a few.
What makes them different is their meticulous attention-to-detail and pursuit of high-quality construction. This has propelled their company growth from just ten employees in April 2004 to over 1,400 in December 2011. Their passion for detail is also reflected in their in-house brass foundry, in which their manufacture their own hardware so that when they design a new piece of furniture they can also design one-of-a-kind pulls, hinges, locks and even keys for that piece.
It is their aim to constantly expand into new markets, while continuing to be a brand synonymous with the finer things in life.
They are craftsmen
Jonathan Charles works with artisans who display a large range of skills. They take pride in their work, which is evident in their beautifully-crafted antique replicas. They go far beyond just creating furniture that resembles English classics. They employ age-old techniques, which breathe soul and lasting-quality into their products.
They are designers
Many of their inspirations come from original antiques that Jonathan discovers in his travels. Sometimes, they will reproduce them as accurately as possible, while at other times they will take a detail that they like and design a completely new piece of furniture around that feature.
Oftentimes, they will start the design process from scratch. They gather inspiration from a variety of sources – be it a classic wallpaper design, nature, classic antiques, a rare object, or jewelry.
They never design to the limitations of their factory, and have actually expanded their factory as they have developed new skills in advanced marquetry, bronze casting, hand carving and much more.
They stand for quality
They never compromise on design and would be foolish to compromise on quality. Only the finest materials are used in their furniture. They also employ inspectors that ensure technically-sound components and design throughout the process. These experts oversee production, checking in at key transaction points so that nothing is overlooked. Before an item is packaged, it is reviewed with a keen eye and must pass a comprehensive checklist by their quality control inspector.
