Jonathan Charles Barcelona Designer Desk With Drawers

The Jonathan Charles Barcelona Designer Desk With Drawers is a breathtaking Luxury Writing Desk that combines a dramatically bookmatched walnut swirl veneer top with slender reeded champagne patina steel legs, curved steel stretchers, and three walnut swirl drawer fronts fitted with foundry-cast champagne patina hardware, creating an Art Deco Desk that is as much a work of art as it is a place to work. Measuring 55 inches wide, 30 inches deep, and 26.8 inches tall, this Mid-Century Desk has a generous, well-proportioned writing surface where that bookmatched walnut swirl veneer takes centre stage — the symmetrical swirling grain pattern radiating outward from the centre of the top in a design that looks almost painted rather than natural, making every Barcelona desk entirely unique. The three drawers running across the front apron are fitted with beautifully weighted foundry-cast knobs in champagne patina, each one sitting flush against the walnut swirl veneer drawer fronts in a way that ties the metalwork and woodwork together into one completely considered whole. The champagne patina steel frame — inspired by classic Spanish architectural forms — gives this Designer Desk With Drawers a distinctly mid-century modern quality, the curved oval stretcher at floor level and the reeded steel legs creating an open, airy elegance that stops this substantial desk from feeling heavy or overpowering in a room. Whether you are furnishing a luxury home office, looking for a Statement Writing Desk for a living room or study, or simply want a Designer Art Deco Desk With Drawers that becomes the most admired piece of furniture in the room, the Jonathan Charles Barcelona Desk is quite simply one of the finest luxury desks available today.

Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture

Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture is the vision of Jonathan Sowter, an English furniture designer who excels at the art of fine antique reproduction. They design and manufacture the highest-quality European antique replicas as well as their own unique transitional designs, which are distributed to the best shops and interior designers throughout North America, U.K., Spain, Italy, Russia and France, just to name a few.

What makes them different is their meticulous attention-to-detail and pursuit of high-quality construction. This has propelled their company growth from just ten employees in April 2004 to over 1,400 in December 2011. Their passion for detail is also reflected in their in-house brass foundry, in which their manufacture their own hardware so that when they design a new piece of furniture they can also design one-of-a-kind pulls, hinges, locks and even keys for that piece.

It is their aim to constantly expand into new markets, while continuing to be a brand synonymous with the finer things in life.

They are craftsmen

Jonathan Charles works with artisans who display a large range of skills. They take pride in their work, which is evident in their beautifully-crafted antique replicas. They go far beyond just creating furniture that resembles English classics. They employ age-old techniques, which breathe soul and lasting-quality into their products.

They are designers

Many of their inspirations come from original antiques that Jonathan discovers in his travels. Sometimes, they will reproduce them as accurately as possible, while at other times they will take a detail that they like and design a completely new piece of furniture around that feature.

Oftentimes, they will start the design process from scratch. They gather inspiration from a variety of sources – be it a classic wallpaper design, nature, classic antiques, a rare object, or jewelry.

They never design to the limitations of their factory, and have actually expanded their factory as they have developed new skills in advanced marquetry, bronze casting, hand carving and much more.

They stand for quality

They never compromise on design and would be foolish to compromise on quality. Only the finest materials are used in their furniture. They also employ inspectors that ensure technically-sound components and design throughout the process. These experts oversee production, checking in at key transaction points so that nothing is overlooked. Before an item is packaged, it is reviewed with a keen eye and must pass a comprehensive checklist by their quality control inspector.
