Jonathan Charles Regency Style Mahogany Slim Bedside Table

The Jonathan Charles Regency Style Mahogany Slim Bedside Table is a beautifully authentic reproduction of a c.1810 English Regency design — a crotch mahogany and crossbanded Slim Bedside Table featuring a bookmatched mahogany veneer top with satinwood stringing, a single drawer with an ornate hand-cast brass drop handle, four reeded and tapered legs with turned feet, and a raised under-tier shelf, all finished in a rich medium antique mahogany. Part of the Jonathan Charles Buckingham Collection, this Regency Bedside Table measures just 17 inches wide and 17 inches deep, making it an ideal Slim Bedside Table or Lamp Table for master bedrooms where space is considered but quality is non-negotiable — the narrow proportions and tall 28 inch height giving it a light, elegant presence that heavier, bulkier bedside tables simply cannot achieve. The crotch mahogany veneer top is genuinely spectacular viewed from above — the bookmatched grain forming that distinctive butterfly or flame pattern in deep chocolate and amber tones that is the hallmark of the finest Georgian and Regency furniture making, framed by the satinwood crossbanding in a detail that speaks directly to the golden age of English cabinet making. Whether you are furnishing a traditional bedroom, looking for a Slim Mahogany Bedside Table With Drawer and shelf, or simply want a genuine antique-inspired Small Lamp Table that brings real historical character to a bedroom or living room scheme, the Jonathan Charles Regency Mahogany Bedside Table from the Buckingham Collection is quite simply one of the finest reproduction bedside tables available today.

Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture

Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture is the vision of Jonathan Sowter, an English furniture designer who excels at the art of fine antique reproduction. They design and manufacture the highest-quality European antique replicas as well as their own unique transitional designs, which are distributed to the best shops and interior designers throughout North America, U.K., Spain, Italy, Russia and France, just to name a few.

What makes them different is their meticulous attention-to-detail and pursuit of high-quality construction. This has propelled their company growth from just ten employees in April 2004 to over 1,400 in December 2011. Their passion for detail is also reflected in their in-house brass foundry, in which their manufacture their own hardware so that when they design a new piece of furniture they can also design one-of-a-kind pulls, hinges, locks and even keys for that piece.

It is their aim to constantly expand into new markets, while continuing to be a brand synonymous with the finer things in life.

They are craftsmen

Jonathan Charles works with artisans who display a large range of skills. They take pride in their work, which is evident in their beautifully-crafted antique replicas. They go far beyond just creating furniture that resembles English classics. They employ age-old techniques, which breathe soul and lasting-quality into their products.

They are designers

Many of their inspirations come from original antiques that Jonathan discovers in his travels. Sometimes, they will reproduce them as accurately as possible, while at other times they will take a detail that they like and design a completely new piece of furniture around that feature.

Oftentimes, they will start the design process from scratch. They gather inspiration from a variety of sources – be it a classic wallpaper design, nature, classic antiques, a rare object, or jewelry.

They never design to the limitations of their factory, and have actually expanded their factory as they have developed new skills in advanced marquetry, bronze casting, hand carving and much more.

They stand for quality

They never compromise on design and would be foolish to compromise on quality. Only the finest materials are used in their furniture. They also employ inspectors that ensure technically-sound components and design throughout the process. These experts oversee production, checking in at key transaction points so that nothing is overlooked. Before an item is packaged, it is reviewed with a keen eye and must pass a comprehensive checklist by their quality control inspector.
