- Tall Walnut Open Bookcase
The Jonathan Charles Tall Walnut Open Bookcase is a magnificent George II style Walnut Bookcase that commands immediate attention — a towering 94 inch Open Bookcase crowned with a boldly carved broken pediment and central turned finial, intricately carved Gothic fretwork running along the entire frieze, deeply reeded fluted pilasters flanking both sides, and five generous shelves set on a substantial stepped pedestal base, all finished in a rich warm walnut that speaks directly to the golden age of English cabinet making. Standing 48 inches wide and nearly 8 feet tall, this Luxury Walnut Bookcase is the kind of piece that transforms an entire room — a study, a home library, a grand living room, or a formal dining room — into something that feels genuinely considered and historically significant, the kind of Tall Open Bookcase that serious collectors and interior designers seek out for their most important projects. The carved broken pediment at the top is genuinely breathtaking up close — the two angled cornice sections meeting at a central carved and turned urn finial in a detail that is pure mid-eighteenth century English craftsmanship, the kind of architectural crown that you simply do not find on any bookcase outside of the finest antique and reproduction furniture makers. The Gothic fretwork frieze running below the cornice and the carved fretwork panels on the pilasters are hand-carved details that set this Tall Walnut Bookcase apart from anything mass-produced — each interlacing geometric pattern cut with a precision and care that makes this piece a genuine collector's item rather than simply a storage solution. The five open shelves provide generous, well-proportioned display space for books, art objects, ceramics, and decorative accessories, whilst the stepped pedestal base gives the whole bookcase a grounded, architectural presence that anchors any room it stands in.Whether you are furnishing a luxury home library, looking for a Statement Tall Open Bookcase for a living room or study, or simply want a George II style Walnut Bookcase that is quite simply one of the finest reproduction pieces available today, the Jonathan Charles Windsor Collection delivers hand-carved walnut craftsmanship, and 94 inches of pure Georgian grandeur.

Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture
Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture is the vision of Jonathan Sowter, an English furniture designer who excels at the art of fine antique reproduction. They design and manufacture the highest-quality European antique replicas as well as their own unique transitional designs, which are distributed to the best shops and interior designers throughout North America, U.K., Spain, Italy, Russia and France, just to name a few.
What makes them different is their meticulous attention-to-detail and pursuit of high-quality construction. This has propelled their company growth from just ten employees in April 2004 to over 1,400 in December 2011. Their passion for detail is also reflected in their in-house brass foundry, in which their manufacture their own hardware so that when they design a new piece of furniture they can also design one-of-a-kind pulls, hinges, locks and even keys for that piece.
It is their aim to constantly expand into new markets, while continuing to be a brand synonymous with the finer things in life.
They are craftsmen
Jonathan Charles works with artisans who display a large range of skills. They take pride in their work, which is evident in their beautifully-crafted antique replicas. They go far beyond just creating furniture that resembles English classics. They employ age-old techniques, which breathe soul and lasting-quality into their products.
They are designers
Many of their inspirations come from original antiques that Jonathan discovers in his travels. Sometimes, they will reproduce them as accurately as possible, while at other times they will take a detail that they like and design a completely new piece of furniture around that feature.
Oftentimes, they will start the design process from scratch. They gather inspiration from a variety of sources – be it a classic wallpaper design, nature, classic antiques, a rare object, or jewelry.
They never design to the limitations of their factory, and have actually expanded their factory as they have developed new skills in advanced marquetry, bronze casting, hand carving and much more.
They stand for quality
They never compromise on design and would be foolish to compromise on quality. Only the finest materials are used in their furniture. They also employ inspectors that ensure technically-sound components and design throughout the process. These experts oversee production, checking in at key transaction points so that nothing is overlooked. Before an item is packaged, it is reviewed with a keen eye and must pass a comprehensive checklist by their quality control inspector.
